ECWA RELEASES 2017 ANNUAL WATER QUALITY REPORTReport shows water provided by ECWA meets or exceeds regulatory standards
APRIL 10, 2018
BUFFALO, NY - The Erie County Water Authority (ECWA) is pleased to announce the release of its 2017 Annual Water Quality Report (AWQR). This report fulfills the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) requirement for public water suppliers to annually prepare and deliver a consumer confidence report.
The report also provides details on the source of the drinking water, shows water quality test results for 2017 and contains other important information about water and health.
The ECWA's Chairman Robert Anderson and Director of Water Quality Paul Whittam are extremely proud to share the results of this year's report with the public.
"These results denote the hard work put in by our team of dedicated professionals, working around-the-clock, to ensure our customers continue to receive the affordable, high-quality water they deserve," Anderson said.
New York State has among the highest standards for drinking water in the country, often exceeding the national requirements set by EPA for some regulated contaminants.
"The State Health Department's requirements are frequently much more stringent than the EPA's," Whittam said. "For this reason, our customers can be confident that we are providing them with safe, exceptional drinking water."
