The Erie County Water Authority (ECWA) has started construction installing 12,400 linear feet of new watermains on several streets throughout the Town of Hamburg, including: Oakwood Avenue, Glenwood Avenue, 7th Street, Woodlawn Avenue, Lakeshore Road, Bayview Road, South Park Avenue, Southwestern Boulevard, Pleasant Avenue, Amsdell Road, Buffalo Street, West Avenue, Bristol Road, Bryant Street, Big Tree Road, and Hudson Street.
ECWA is replacing old, smaller diameter watermains with new 8-inch watermains that will improve service delivery, fire protection, and provide more reliability for customers in these sections of the town. Work will be completed in two phases, and ECWA expects the full project to be completed by early Summer 2023.
The $3.9 million infrastructure investment in the Town of Hamburg is funded through the ECWA’s 2022 budget, which included $76.2 million for system-wide infrastructure upgrades. The 2022 infrastructure upgrades are part of ECWA’s overall $321 million five-year infrastructure investment plan.
