The Erie County Water Authority (ECWA) has started construction installing 9,500 linear feet of watermains on several streets in the City of Tonawanda, including Niagara Street, Two Mile Creek Road, Maldiner Avenue, Cranbrook Road, Crestwood Court, Cornell Court, Morgan Street, Wheeler Street, Kohler Street, Steiner Avenue, Highland Avenue, Grove Street, Fuller Avenue, Park Avenue, Queen Street, Fillmore Avenue, and Wales Avenue.
ECWA is replacing old, smaller diameter watermains with new 8-inch and 12-inch watermains that will improve service delivery, fire protection, and provide more reliability for customers in these sections of the city. ECWA expects the full project will be completed by Summer 2023.
The $3.5 million infrastructure investment in the City of Tonawanda is funded through the ECWA’s 2022 budget, which included $76.2 million for system-wide infrastructure upgrades. The 2022 infrastructure upgrades are part of ECWA’s overall $321 million five-year infrastructure investment plan.
