The Erie County Water Authority (ECWA) recently started construction installing 16,200 linear feet of watermains on Maynard Avenue, Stevenson Boulevard, Bailey Avenue, Springville Avenue and Burroughs Drive in the town of Amherst.
ECWA will be replacing existing 6-inch watermains with new 8-inch watermains, which will improve service delivery, fire protection, and provide more dependability for customers in these sections of the town. The project is expected to be completed in late-August.
The $4.9 million infrastructure investment project was funded through the ECWA’s 2021 budget, which included $76.2 million for system-wide infrastructure upgrades. The 2022 infrastructure upgrades are part of ECWA’s overall $321 million five-year infrastructure investment plan.
