Erie County Water Authority (ECWA) Director of Water Quality Sabrina Figler has been appointed secretary of the Water Utility Council (WUC) of the New York State Section of the American Water Works Association (NYSAWWA).
The NYSAWWA represents New York State public drinking water utilities and purveyors who supply drinking water to over 15 million New York State residents. Established in 1914, the New York Section is the first and oldest chapter in the American Water Works Association (AWWA). The NYSAWWA is the leading professional organization dedicated to providing safe drinking water to protect public health and safety and provide an adequate supply of safe drinking water for all state residents. Through collective leadership, NYSAWWA advances education, science, management, technology and government policies.
As Secretary, Figler’s responsibilities include managing the organization's internal communications as well as preparing and keeping track of board meeting dates, meeting agendas, and minutes from meetings. She will attend all council meetings to keep a detailed record of the council’s action on legislative items.
Prior to her appointment, Figler had been a member of the Water Utility Council (WUC) of the NYSAWWA. The WUC is responsible for developing action programs to initiate, evaluate, respond and comment on legislative, regulatory, and other matters which directly affect water utilities and to encourage continuing provisions for the best water service to the consuming public throughout all of New York State.
Figler is the only member in the Western New York region to hold an office with the WUC. She currently resides in Orchard Park.
