The Erie County Water Authority (ECWA) announced that Jennifer Hibit has been named its new director of human resources.
Hibit, until very recently, was Chief of Staff for Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz for the past ten years where she oversaw the County Executive office staff and department heads and was responsible for human resource functions, including recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding candidates for key positions within the administration as well as ensuring employee compliance for mandatory county online training requirements and implementing personnel policies. Hibit also served as a key policy team member for the Erie County COVID-19 response team.
“We are very pleased to have Ms. Hibit as our new director of human resources,” said ECWA Chairman Jerome Schad. “Ms. Hibit’s outstanding qualifications and extensive knowledge of local government and public agency human resource functions, policies and procedures made her the ideal candidate for the job, and we are proud to have yet another female in a high-level management position at ECWA.”
As director of human resources, Hibit will be responsible for the overall management of ECWA’s human resources department and will oversee all employee relations functions.
“I’m honored to be named ECWA’s director of human resources and to bring my 10 years of human resources and employee management experience to the organization,” said Hibit. “In my role with the county executive I became quite familiar with ECWA and the professionalism in which the current board of commissioners is managing and leading the organization, and I wanted to be a part of that as I continue my career in public service.”
Hibit graduated from Niagara University where she received a bachelor’s degree in political science. She will officially begin at ECWA on August 8.
