Mark S. Carney was appointed to the position of Attorney (General Counsel) in June 2021. A graduate of Canisius High School, Canisius College and Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Mr. Carney was admitted and qualified to practice law in the State of New York in June 1987 and was admitted and qualified to practice law in the United States District Court, Western District of New York in August 1987.
Mr. Carney began working as a solo practitioner before forming his firm, Carney and Carney, which specializes in complex litigation including corporate, white collar, civil defense and matrimonial. Throughout his career, he has practiced in City, County and Supreme Courts in Erie and surrounding counties, as well as New York City and has argued cases before the New York State Fourth Appellant Division and Federal Court of the Western District of New York. He was also appointed Special Counsel to Lipsitz, Green, Scime and Cambria.
Mark Carney previously served as a Commissioner to the Erie County Water Authority from April 27, 2018 to April 27, 2021.
Mr. Carney is currently on the Board of Trustees of The Bruce Williams Family Foundation and a board member of Home of My Own. He previously served as a board member with the 100 Club of Buffalo and the Park Club of Buffalo. Mr. Carney served as General Counsel to the Buffalo Police Union and Trek, Inc. along with also serving as a board member with Trek, Inc.
Mr. Carney resides in Amherst with his wife, children and grandchild.
