Terrence D. McCracken was appointed to the position of Secretary to the Erie County Water Authority in May of 2018. Mr. McCracken began his career at the Authority in 2014, serving as the Director of Employee Relations and subsequently as Deputy Administrative Director. In his title as Secretary, Mr. McCracken is committed to ensuring that the Authority operates in an open, transparent and responsive manner.
Mr. McCracken has dedicated most of his professional life to public service. He was elected to serve as a member of the Erie County Legislature, representing the residents of the 8th Legislative District. While serving in the Legislature, he chaired the Energy and Environment Committee and was a member of the Public Safety and Government Affairs Committees. Mr. McCracken was employed by the Town of Lancaster for almost eighteen years as the Director of Parks, Recreation and Forestry overseeing the town’s parks, buildings and grounds and handling numerous development projects.
In his previous positions with the Authority, Mr. McCracken was responsible for employee relations activities including collective bargaining negotiations, contract administration, and handling disciplinary procedures and grievances. He strived in reducing work place injuries and improving employee relations. Mr. McCracken studied business while attending Canisius College.
